Faсtory
This coffee comes from smallholder farmers organized around the Ichamara factory in Nyeri County, Kenya, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Farmers deliver freshly handpicked ripe cherries daily to the washing station, where quality control begins immediately to ensure consistency and clarity in the cup.
The Ichamara factory is part of the New Gikaru Farmers Cooperative Society and follows a meticulous washed process. After careful hand sorting, the cherries are pulped and fermented overnight, then thoroughly washed with fresh water. The wet parchment is separated into four density grades and dried on raised beds for 1 to 2 weeks, ensuring optimal moisture stability and a clean, transparent cup profile.
Process and variety
Grown at altitudes of 1600 to 1800 meters above sea level in Nyeri’s mineral-rich volcanic soils, this lot features classic Kenyan varieties SL28 and SL34 alongside Ruiru 11. These varieties are known for their structure, bright acidity, floral notes, and vibrant fruit expression.
Processed using the washed method and roasted light for filter brewing, this coffee delivers an expressive and elegant profile. Expect notes of cherry, hibiscus, and raspberry, supported by crisp acidity, high sweetness, and a silky, lingering finish. Ideal for pour-over or batch brew, it offers excellent clarity and consistency in the cup.
